New Writing, New Media: Emerging African Writers and the Internet
My PhD research would seek to determine how the internet is encouraging creative works of new African writers. Over the past decades, most major UK and US publishers have abandoned publishing creative writing books in Africa. But in recent times, new communication technologies are driving out the traditional belief that literature should only be available in book form.
Now, the internet has permitted people to read and write through electronic means. Writers have tapped the advantages of the internet to tell their creative stories. How are African writers and readers coping with the challenges of new media?
