DB: So that's one thing I remember when I go in. My memories do go back a bit further than that because I remember visiting the old Techniquest when it was actually in town as a visitor, you know. But that's the first thing I remember when I go in. Now with the exhibits, that were in there, some of them were actually still on the exhibition floor now. "Whisper Dishes" are there. There used to be a thing called the Ames' Window, up at the back, which was a window that spun round and we've got an Ames' room here which is a slight subtle development of that. And also some of the things that were in the kids' programme are on the floor as well. I think I tend to remember the ones I liked the most. There was a thing called Crazy Pendulum which was on the floor which was a magnet hanging on a piece of string and you had magnets on the floor and you could swing the magnet round and according to which way you had the magnets up on the floor it would act in a random manner. So I remember that one.
They had a solar panel exhibit there. Which had a solar panel with a light shining on it and a little water pump and if you got between the light and the solar panel it would cut out the, it would stop the water pump working. They had some small - um - there was a metal - it was a wooden frame - and it sort of had like a dip in it with a ball in the middle and you had to work - 2 balls in the middle - you had to work out how you could get these two balls up the curved slope to either end. So that was another one I remember. The other thing I remember when I first started is the helpers used to work behind the coffee bar. So, which was quite nice because if it was quiet you could help people with the exhibits and still go back and work behind the coffee bar as well.
They had a station which looked at um they had a sort of - centre - plinth or something. It had different things about the senses on it. There was a scent one that you sniffed and you had to try and guess what the particular thing was. Trying to think what other ones there were. There was um - a thing a bit like Dynamic dynamo.
BS: Which one's that?
DB: It's the tall thing - which you pump water up to the top you let it run down but that had, different stations. It had a bike attached to it which you cycled and a handle which attached. Which, the one here originally I think was going to be like that but they find they were having problems with the bikes and things so they actually got took away you know, not long after it got um established here.
There was a light and colour section. In the light and colour section - I can't remember a lot of them but the one, there was one in there which had a - projected the slide ( ) you had a white stick and when you waved the white stick and when you waved the white stick in front of it you got the picture showing up on the side.
And I think those are the ones I sort of - those are the ones I can remember now. You know, just by thinking about it.
