BS Other things we wanted to talk about is the way in which Techniquest
is described within the literature. So one of the terms is that is used is
that Techniquest is a science discovery centre so could you say a little bit
about what that means?
CW I think the - It's, it's very much a sort, a place where people
can, um, find their own pathways through it really, so, basically someone
can, comes into the exhibition area. You don't have to go from a particular
start, starting place you know, you can be a 3 year old and you can, you can
make discoveries you know. You can find that if you, if you bash the ball
it's, going to fall off its bit of air coming through. Or if you're doing,
you know, if you're doing a PhD in Chemistry you can, you know, have a look
at the flame colours and, you know, see it maybe in a different slightly different
way or something like that. So, I think that's the, that's the thing You can.
You can find out more yourself from any, from lots of different, different
levels really. I mean the shows and things they're all, they're obviously
more of a, a starting off you know, like if they're all 5 year olds in there,
we're obviously, content wise we're going to start from a particular basis.
But still, if you, you talk to a hundred children coming out of there - and
ask them what they found out you'll probably get ( ) things from, from most
of them anyway. But, certain, certain things'll be highlights but. I think
that's the thing is that it's, it's an individual- you decide what you want
to, what you want to find out, particularly in the exhibition area. It's very
much self-led. You know, I think helpers are very much there to enhance the
experience and to you know direct people in ways they might want to look at
things in a different way, they might want to go a bit further with something
but - it is you very much start from wherever, wherever you are.
