BS: Could you just explain to me the difference between being a scientist and a science communicator.

ER: Right. I don't I don't think there's that much difference because I think being a scientist is a frame of mind. But what people tend to think of as a scientist is somebody who is actively involved in science research. So by that definition I am not a scientist. However I'd like to think that I am because I think like a scientist. I've had a scientific - background. I'd quite like to - to do science. I have an enquiring mind I think is the way you put it. I suppose by definition, a scientist would be somebody who's actively involved in scientific research. Whereas a science communicator is somebody who is actively involved in getting people interested and motivated about science and wanting to take science further. So a scientist could also be a science communicator. And science communicators can be - can be scientists. But you also have people who communicate the science who aren't scientists - or who aren't actively involved in research. People who are actively involved in research who don't communicate it to to the public or to schools. If that makes any sense at all.
