BS: How do you think the relationship between the text and the exhibit works?
TS: The exhibit ought not to depend upon any of the text. The few instructions, and there's not usually more than two dozen words of instructions - are there as a fall back position for most of the people who come to an exhibit. That is, they don't look at the instructions first. I think I said this before, particularly kids they hack it. So that is there and then the 100 words is either to give the very briefest explanation of what is happening, an indication of what is happening and some kind of everyday or interesting example that will show you an application or something related to it, in the real world so that it goes in to people's heads attached to something that they knew about already. And they think "oh, fancy that." That is the kind of relationship that I think I'm looking for mostly.
