TS: It's much more difficult to measure.

((BM explains further))

TS: What motivates people here who work here? That is that, I mean the motives are many and various. We've got to keep this place full. The show has got to stay on the road. We've got to sell the stuff. We've got to set up satellite exhibitions so that we can maintain a workshop with sufficient hands there and sufficient expertise so that it can serve Techniquest as well. Wouldn't be able to do it otherwise. you know, it's too expensive. And so that, in that way we've got to diversify and become a commercial institution in lots of ways. We've got to have a shop. I mean we've got to have a shop because it's got to provide revenue. But, the things that we sell there are the things that we think will engage kids. And they are cheap enough for kids to buy, and they'll take them away and they are (vaguely) little scientific toys or memories of Techniquest and something to do with them.

So I think there is - an overarching, I dislike calling it a philosophy but a sort of - an aesthetic idea of what we want this place to - to accomplish in a general sort of way. We want it to present science in an agreeable way to as wide an audience as we can in order that the thing changes it cultural image. If we do some of that then I think we are - making some headway.
