Interview with Derek took place in "Blue One", Bambo asking the questions, me recording. Derek was more diffident than I expected. I still find him an anomalous person in TQ.

In the early questions we discovered that he is actually a sociologist who "failed" A level physics. That's interesting because I had thought everyone came from a science background.

He has been involved with TQ for a long time and seems altough positive to be somewhat cynical. At one point he claimed that the science theatre doesn't teach children new things but rather reinforces what they already know.

All in all he was quite nervous and seemed a little reluctant to reflect too deeply. I had hoped to use these interviews more to elicit narratives and opinions. We got a fair few opinions but little in the role of narrative. That may just be due to Bambo's style or it may be that our technique is flawed.

I'm finding that because I haven't had much chance to talk with these people beforehand that I'm not that comfortable with how to go about the interview. Makes me wonder about how future interviews with Amanda et al will work out.
