General
observations
Families sit on the wall beside the large glass window. A couple occasionally
gesture towards the exhibit space. Lots of older children today. A group
of teenagers are eating ice cream. Maintenance man removes litter from
the floor. A boy moves from exhibit to exhibit saying "what's this".

Puff
and surrounding exhibits
People tend to approach the dragon with purpose. Some walk, some run,
but regardless of their method of arrival most seem to have decided
in advance that this is where they are going. The decisiveness of the
approach is perhaps due to the size and location of the exhibit. The
dragon is about five foot high and five foot wide and can therefore
be seen from a distance. It is positioned towards the edge of the lower
exhibit hall and is not crowed by other exhibits. People stay at the
exhibit long enough to have pressed all the buttons. Conversation is
limited: mainly instructions (up, down) or questions (shall we wag the
tail?) It's very hard to get a good vantage point from which to view
the exhibit. In order to take a photograph I need to stand some distance
from the exhibit but this precludes me from hearing conversations.

Hydrogen
Rocket - James
Boy putting all of his energy into the hydrogen rocket. I notice him
from a distance whilst I am writing notes on Puff. I take photos and
then move forward. He sets of the rocket, then has another go. I try
to photograph his hand but the speed of his movement blurs the images.
He is about to leave when I ask him if I can take some more photos.
He is happy to help. This album

Hydroden
Rocket - Various Visitors
I take photos of other people using the exhibit. I note that the smaller
the visitor the more effort they have to put in (122 - 139). One woman
starts to use the exhibit with one hand, but realises that she is not
generating enough energy. She puts her coat down then grasps handle
with both hands. (139 -147) Her son joins her. She points something
out to him. I move closer to hear what she is saying. She is telling
him to watch the number. After she has fired the rocket the son asks
if he can have a go. (147 - 179) This

Roll
up hill and surrounding exhibits
Father explains to daughter how the illusion works. "it's not the shape
of that. (He points to the exhibit). It's the shape of the cone. Do
you see what I mean?" (219 -223) This
