Interview with Emma

(Time code has broken and is reset to 0:00:00:00)

00:00:00:00

Emma introduces herself, and explains what she does at TQ. She hasn't done many shows. She has mainly done workshops.

00:01:25:02

Bambo: 'How did you get involved in the pushes and pulls show?'

Emma: 'I was just asked today. I haven't seen it before. All I knew was that there was a monkey in it.' She describes what it is like to do a show for the first time. She talks about getting cues from Jean .

00:03:43:08

Bambo: 'How does a show compare to a workshop?' Emma: ' A workshop is more interactive. You can speak to children individually.'

00:04:37:14

Bambo asks Emma about the Llanfairfach visit. Emma talks about her interactions with Brooke on the bucket and other exhibits. She talks about children rushing around when the first arrive, and explains how she deals with this.

00:08:24:02

Bambo: 'Has your approached changed since you started?' Emma is more used to approaching visitors. She says that it was harder to approach families than kids as she felt that she was intruding. She describes strategies for approaching.

00:10:18:24

Bambo: 'Did you do any preparation for the pushes and pulls theme week? Do you change your method when there is a new theme?'. She doesn't change her approach but is sometimes forced to because the school groups can use the hall in a different way, according to theme.

00:11:41:00

Bambo: 'Does doing the show mean that you change the way in which you interact on the hall?' Emma says that it means that you can relate things on the floor to ideas that have been given in the show. You can use what they are thinking about in the show to help them out.

00:12:49:17

Cut away shot of Bambo. Bruce asks Emma what her favourite exhibit is. She likes the chromatography and the graviton. She is a chemist and has just done a PHD. She hopes to start teaching in September.
