BS: . . . What do you think is one of the main things that children would gain from coming to the Science Theatre?
DB: From the science theatre? In different ways. One of the things they get is actually according to what the show is, they actually reinforces what they - actually reinforces what they know. And - because it reinforce them it makes them feel good about it. Like - they've just done- the show last week was Investigate and a lot of that links directly to the skills they'll need when they do their SATs. Now the teachers love that and it does actually then, in some way assist them in, approaching some of the SATs, some of the, one or two of the questions they have in the SATs paper. So from that theme they'll get something from that which is directly linked to what they're doing. The other thing is just the general experience, because some of them they haven't been to the science theatre before, there's just a sort of "wow" feeling, you know. And with some of the shows there's this huge "wow" feeling you know all these "oohs" and things like that and they really actually - it's the enjoyment they get from it. Coming down and taking part. But I think it's, it's actually seeing these various things being done which they might only ever be able to read in books or not ever be able to see anywhere else, you know. If you're doing something with liquid nitrogen it's - "wow" you know. It's really cold it freezes flowers all these sort of things. But I think it's the encouragement it gives them to actually, enjoy science and possibly go on to look at science in, you know, as a - it is a fun thing, you know and some bits are great, you know, blowing things up and freezing things and squashing things, it's brilliant, you know. It's all these different things and I think, because of all the things they do, they're doing so much science themselves all the time anyway - that it sort of reinforces a lot of things that they'll see in their everyday life. A lot of it is just - you know it helps them a bit with their things they see in school and reinforces what they're doing in school. But a lot of it is down to actually encouraging them and just making them enjoy it and I think that's so important.
