BS: One of the things the directors have mentioned is that as helpers you play a key role in feeding back information to the production team. I was just wondering how you see yourself as fitting into Techniquest in that way. (1.9) how do you see your role within Techniquest?(2.7)
JC: It's a sort of funny - it's a funny one. Um - there's a sort of awareness that if you weren't there it doesn't really matter what was going on upstairs if you haven't got people downstairs interacting then, what's the point? Equally - you can get a feeling that - there's a - they would probably say in the office that this doesn't happen at all that there's a certain snobbery sometimes that you feel. People say "They're only helpers doesn't really- doesn't really matter." Which is very frustrating. And sometimes you feel that because, you do try and most people - particularly if you've been here a while because of the kind of place it is you tend to know everybody. So you will - seek people out and you tell people what you think. But sometimes you don't feel like anyone ever bothers to actually act on it. And yet, if you like, often we're the people who get the direct feedback - that visitors who come in and out will say "this has been really good" or "that's been really bad" or - "we like this" you know. Or just that you're in there and you're observing while visitors are watching something or reacting to something. And that sometimes those feedbacks can be given and people will say "Oh yeah that's great" and that's about it. Um - it depends on the person and depends on the time - although you're encouraged to give feedback -it doesn't - doesn't always - sometimes doesn't often feel like it's actually acted upon. - That's probably particularly true of the exhibits.
