BS: Do you think that Techniquest has a role within the local community?
ER: I hope so. Yeah. I'd like to think that - local people came. And they don't seem to as much, it's difficulty to say because you don't know when you're on front desk or on the floor who the people who are local and who aren't. We do a bit with the local schools which I can't really talk about because I'm not involved with the schools. But people like Dockside Community School School come here very frequently. Also again with Dockside Community School, some of the helpers and some of the office staff will go over and help them with reading activities in - school. So - I'd like to think that that was - being fostered. We have a number of helpers who are - local people so that they - you know very local being able to walk in - to work. So if they - want want a job they can apply like everybody else and. There's also a, the wetlands thing which is - over in the - the area - behind us there. And Techniquest is involved to a certain degree with that which is also fostering links with the community. So I'd like to think so.
It's it's difficult. We used to have something where, whereby local children came in free. And I think this was before my time so don't quote me on this - but I think they started to - abuse the - being able to come in for free and they used to try and wreck the place. And so that had to be stopped which is a - which is a shame. But I think that that was tried. We also have things whereby - local taxi drivers and things we used to have an evening where they could come in for free and they'd bring their families and things. I'd like to think that - Techniquest was there for the community as well but I don't know how much the community wants to be involved with Techniquest. But, I'm - like I say, don't quote me on any of that because - it's not - what I do directly with my work so I - I don't really know. I'm talking off the top of my head.
