BS: I want to ask some questions about Pushes and Pulls. Have you had time to reflect on the shows?

SB: I have I have yes I have. After the show was finished I've just written a short report, we always do that with a new show just to say what worked well and sort of summarise the teachers' feedback which was very good, I was really pleased with that. Kind of say what what things I would definitely like to change for next year, which were quite minor details really. There wasn't anything that I particularly wanted to - remove from the show. Then I went out to school with Maire, because she's doing her MSc and we did, we spent a whole day in a school. We asked the children some questions about pushes and pulls and asked them to fill out a tick sheet with pictures on, so they had to identify pushes and pulls before the show. Then we did the show, then we did we talked them about the pushes and pulls, after the show and then we left a worksheet with the teachers. This is all Maire's work because she's doing her MSc on it. And then and I haven't seen the results yet but the children were asked to do exactly the same, pushes and pulls sheet again, just to see if it made any difference. We did the show. And it was very interesting the conversations after the show. To which things the children remembered and talked about and which things they completely - they didn't - none of them talked about the foam, squashing the foam. They all talked about stretching the putty, which was - looked more exciting. So when we talked about things changing shape they could all think of pulling, to change shape but they couldn't tell you that you could push to change shapes, for example. So we want to put a smiley face or a frog, or something, on - we want to paint it on the block so that when they squash it you see the frog getting squashed. So make it a little bit more - um funny, comical whatever. They all remember the monkey on the skateboard, they loved that. I think we're on to a winner with that because if we just had a skateboard it certainly wouldn't have caused as much interest. Um - so it was very interesting. That gave me more of an idea than anything really. I've never had a chance to - to do that before, so um - so we will be improving, the changing shape by pushing demonstration. It may be very similar to the one we had but šit wasn't very exciting soš um - Yeah we think it's going to be a good show - to to add to our programme. We're quite happy with it. If we can make it look better. Some of the props could do with with a bit more um you know a bit more exciting. Basically , the sections of the show worked well. They found the first section the hardest. For some groups, we would have simplified that slightly, and for others we would have - um kept it in. But um, that was the general feeling, the introduction could have been shorter, squashing the foam should have been a better demo, we didn't they didn't remember it very well. Um I can't remember the other things I've got them written down just a few, very small things to change.
