BS: How would you compare Techniquest to other Science Discovery Centres or other science museums?

TS: I think - I wouldn't be talking to the kid now but I would say ours is very child-friendly. Lots of people come here and they think it's only for children. And that's a bit of a shame but I think we've got to put up with that because it does attract the children and once adults are here then most of them, if they are prepared to do something, they will find it's wonderfully interesting stuff for them as well.

How does it compare with others? @Bristol, I think has a much more adult approach to the way that it packages everything and the kinds of the themes that it attempts to - to follow. That, their bit called "Explore" is as much like Techniquest as they get. And I don't think - it is aimed more at an older child, a teenager, adults - and I don't know how successful it is - in that. It's not a study that we have made yet. But we are enormously successful with primary school children. We don't get a lot of secondary school children, here. I mean the place is full of the now because we've got a special maths exhibition running which the schools think is excellent for their kids at this stage in the school year. Because there is time for them to relax a bit and bring groups of children and to do something slightly mathematical. That is I think doing a similar kind of relaxing job to maths as we do for science most of the rest of the year.
