BS Back to basic questions. How would you describe science? What is science to you? What does it mean?
TS: Who am I talking to?
BS: To me.
TS: Right. - Culturally I think science is one of the most important things that people have learnt to do. Finding out about the world in a structured way, is an exciting thing to do and it is also technologically and socially important. To understand things in the way that we do, which is systemically and in the physical sciences in a mathematical sort of way I think is one of the - biggest acts of genius that humans have, have come across. I regard it culturally as important as architecture and as art and as literature and poetry. And so - what's it mean to me? It is if you like one of the bases of what I regard as a cultured life. Does that sound?
