((camera view: Bruce, Peter and the whisper dish))
BM: The main things I want to know are how you think the
show's been going so far and what your expectations are for today.
Peter: We did two yesterday um but equally they went very very well. Kids really enjoyed them, got good feedback from the teacher, so, hopefully, the same today.
BM: Have you been changing the show much? Have you
found you've customised it a bit or is it pretty much as it was on the
first day?
Peter: I've personalised it to make it more of a show and less of a, less of lecture. Um made the character of the monkey a lot more funny. It's the Techniquest Stunt Monkey and things like that, just to make it - a bit more of a show for the kids. Other than that pretty much the same as it was
BM: Factoring us out, how typical do you think the day is compared to a normal day?
Peter: At the moment it's very very quiet. Normally by this time there's screaming kids everywhere and uh it's a more case of marshalling them than teaching them. Um but on day like today it's very very quiet so - it's a case of standing around - it's quite quiet today.
BM: Are you upstairs on the beat at the moment?
Peter: No, I've got a sort of wandering brief to, to be in the science theatre when I need to be but cover anywhere that needs covering, at the time. At the moment it's just a case of - not really covering anywhere cause there's nobody here.
BM: Thanks, very much, cheers.
BD: Can I just ask a question. ((interviewers change))
((camera: moves to mcu shot of Peter in front of Whisper Dish))
BD Um just to ((camera almost collides with Peter))
sorry ask um Why was it that you decided to make the show a little
bit more of a show? You said you made it a little bit more of a show for the
kids.
Peter: Sometimes I find the education shows can be a little too didactic - and - tend to be lectures with demonstrations rather than being a show. We've got a theatre space let's make it theatre let's make it more of a show.
BD: Is that something that is important in relation to the kids' age?
Peter: Um - I prefer personally to think of it not as kids as just as they are seeing a show so they should have some, some level of theatre in there. It's my own personal preference and luckily they give me enough room to be able to do that.
BD: Thanks.
