Pre-show

Children wait for show. The class sit on the front row. The camera pans their faces. Julian points to stage and says: "there is the little monkey". Jean, one of the presenters, talks to the children as they wait for the last school to arrive.

The tune - "Drunken sailor plays.W The camera pans down the row (CU). Other children enter the theatre.

The presenter (Peter) booms "good afternoon". The children reply "good afternoon". CU of Charles, and then camera pans out. Peter asks who has been before, and some children raise hands. Peter asks what the show is about, and a child in audience guesses.

Peter introduces theme of forces. LS from the stage. LS from the side of children. Many children sit with hands on laps. Some children swing legs. Children put up hands to answer Peter's questions.

Stunt Monkey Sequence

Peter introduces stunt monkey. MLS, down the row of children from their left. Some laugh when the Peter introduces the monkey. Oscar comes on stage to pull the skateboard. The camera pans to the stage. MS of Oli on stage. Cam pans back to MS of audience. Fred is leaning forward, Evelyn and Andrea sit back, heads tilted. Applause

MLS of 6 children (Joseph, Deri, Sinead, Charles, ConnaL, Brooke) in Audience. Someone behind them answers a question. They all turn their heads to towards the back of auditorium.

Feeling pushes and pulls ....

Camera zooms to long shot. Peter asks children if they have ever been pushed or pulled. Some children raise their hands

The children feel pushes and pulls. Under instruction from Peter the children raise their hands to shoulder level. Zoom from LS to MLS. The children push each others hands. They laugh. Camera pans CU down row

The children feel pushes and pulls . CU of 3 girls (Holly, Alice, Andrea). Under instruction from Peter they link fingers and pull at each others hands. They laugh, and general laugher can be heard in auditorium. The camera pans down the row. Some of the children seem to have hurt their fingers.

Monkey and Banana

Camera pans up and down row, resting on 6 children (Joseph, Deri, Sinead, ChrisS, Brooke). Children laugh, some leaning forward as they do so. Peter asks a question. ChrisS raises his hand high, and leaves it half raised for a few seconds before lowering it. Camera zooms in and out to LS. Peter asks question and some raise hands

Peter asks the children to see what happens when he pushes skateboard. 6 in MLS (ChrisJ, Evelyn, Andrea, Amena, Justin and Ollie. Some children shout "fast". The sound of children's voices in auditorium can be heard laughing and chattering. Some of those in view laugh. Evelyn has straight face.

Peter asks: 'how can we move the skateboard without touching it?'. In foreground Cal has his arm raised. Another child attempts to answer. Cal rests hand behind head. Corrie mutters "blow" under breath. He leans forward and raises hand high. Peter says: 'we can use sail.' Corrie slumps back down muttering 'sail'.

Peter tells the children that the force of air can move the monkey on the skateboard. The children laugh as Peter tries to blow. Corrie puffs his cheeks, blows, then raises his hand. Children laugh when Peter uses the hairdryer to blow monkey. Camera Zooms from MLS to CU of Corrie and Cal.

Using forces to change the shape of something

Some volunteers come onto stage and Peter (off camera) demos foam. The Camera zooms out, in and pans slowly across faces. The camera rests on Sinead, Deri, Joseph and Charles. When the volunteers leave stage (off camera) the audience claps.

Peter pulls the putty (off camera). The children answer "yes" and "no" as Peter asks questions. CU of Corrie and Charles. The make "err" sounds when Peter brings out Putty. Corrie says it looks like chewing gum. The children chatter to each other.

Peter asks the audience to suggest other ways to change the putty's shape. Charles suggests "step on it". Corrie suggests they mould it. Corrie comes on stage to demonstrate. The camera follows him. The audience claps. Corrie sits down and chats.

Toy shop

Peter goes to the toy shop. Audience, encouraged by Peter, shout "pushing and pulling." The camera focuses on Deri, Sinead and Charles. (Deri roles his eyes and yawns, and then on Julian, Ben and Derek).Peter teaches the hand actions for p & p and the children copy. They perform the action as Peter brings out each toy. Julian makes exaggerated movements.

Peter finds magnets. A child can be heard gasping as he brings out the big magnets. The camera focuses on Evelyn, Andrea , Amena and John. Amena has her hands on her face. Peter tries to gets the children to guess what will happen when he puts the ends together. Andrea and Evelyn whisper to each other. John leans forward.

Peter demos the rocket. The focus is initially on John, Ollie and Vicky, and then the camera pulls back to LS. The children chatter excitedly when Peter brings out rocket. They look up when it fires, and cheer. Peter sets off for a second time. The camera focuses on Deri, Sinead, and ChrisS. Peter and children countdown: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1."

Out and about. Peter talks the audience through the video, encouraging them to shout "push" or "pull". The camera pans down the row.

Three little pigs

Three little pigs. The children talk amongst each other, excited, as Peter begins to tell the story. Peter encourages them to shout out at intervals throughout the story.

Children lean forward to blow the house down. Oli wriggles his fingers as Peter blows down the house. When Peter asks questions Oli and Zoe immediately lift their hands up straight.

Peter blows down house of bricks. Peter asks for suggestions as to how to knock the house of bricks down. Lots of to and fro between Peter and the audience. Following suggestions from children, Peter tries with ball, and the rocket. He blows the air from the rocket into the children's faces. The children lean forward to feel the air from the rocket.

Peter hesitates before knocking the wall down with the stunt monkey: "are you sure?" Audience: Yes! The children laugh when the wall crashes. Some clap. Ben lifts his arms up.
