BS: I've noticed things like Gary the Clown, Steve Mesure that you were talking about so I was wondering if not so much the lecture style but the story style if that's a new thing?

SB: yes I suppose it is a little bit - yes the old lecture demo style is quite - an established thing, that people do and - I think it, science centres in other places do probably in America that's where they would do more kind of shows. I don't know, I think it's just sort of crept in, with with - interactive science centres shows have sort of crept in as having the role and then other people have - started doing it as well, who have got that interest, whether they're in a science centre or not. I can remember one of the best - examples that I came across was in Australia. They have their science centre - they have a travelling science circus where students on an MSc course go out to the back of beyond t these tiny little places in Australia, you know and do these shows for these kids, you know. I I was impressed because we had a couple of people that came over here and they talked about what they did and they really didn't have hardly any props. They used the children as the props. They got them out the front and they would make them into particles or molecules or something. So that's sort of taken off in Australia and there's lots of things happening in America. I think it's nice. I think it - Gary the Clown type things are a bit new, but there is obviously a place for them a need for them. Um - I think we - we get to hear - it's really nice getting to hear about people doing similar things to us and belonging to BIG, British Interactives Group is a really good way of finding out more. We've got one person from Techniquest going to the conference at the end of this week. And hopefully he'll bring back all the latest, gossip on the sort of science side. He'll say "Oh - I've met this this great bloke from Germany and he does this" or you know. That's the place where you get to hear, that's where |I met Gary the Clown for the first time. ((laughs)) The BIG conference. Um - you know it's a kind of network that builds up. yeah, it is quite new I think. Some of those styles of things.
