BS What does the term edutainment mean to you?

HW It's a term that that I react badly to quite - mainly cause it's, just, you know, it's a horrible collision between two words. It's not even a portmanteau word so, you know, I don't think it's, it's. But what it means to me - is - the leisure industry, taking, an education, and bolting it on as a justification. It's post-rationalising in that way. Whereas Techniquest starts with the education and the mission and then conveys that in as appealing a way as it can. There are some very excellent edutainment attractions, there are some very excellent people working within theme parks doing good programmes. You look at the lot of the things that they go and do which they call edutainment, they're Robot Labs - Mindstorms, things, doing wonderful work and able to invest at quite a high level. So, nothing against it, but it's something that makes me look for, you know, is this a bolt-on or was it the reason it was done in the first place.
