BD So, at the beginning of phase 3 you had lots of people feeding you ideas
through the exhibit forms, have you now changed that situation so that you're
mainly developing the ideas?
HW Not entirely. I mean you can't, it couldn't be me imposing what
exhibits the workshop make. To make an exhibit, to make it work requires quite
a lot of effort, quite a lot of ownership of it, in order to make that effort.
So as much as possible I try and bring it from people in the workshop who
are actually going to make the things. And so that might be, bringing a half-formed
idea to them, so that they then finish it off and, you know, it, it, it's
then not my idea it's theirs and they, they can do it. The, there's a lot
more pragmatism in things now because we don't have "Here's a huge pile of
money, go away and spend it on some exhibits." We have, quite limited piles
of money and much higher expectations. So it's, in many ways it's a harder
job. I try to bring structure to the thinking about, "Electric" but at the
same time you've got to acknowledge the ideas that come in from different
people so - like everything in life, it's a compromise.
