Sound Organiser

Making music with sounds (as opposed to notes) is a creative activity which has seen a rapidly increasing community in terms of appreciation and creative participation. The Sound Organiser is an audio software project intended primarily for use by children and those who have no experience with sound-based music creativity. The software assumes no knowledge base at all; its approach is of an uncomplicated user-friendly interface; its architecture employs the logic of games where each level involves greater abilities and new challenges.

DMU's Centre of Excellence in Performance Arts has supported the creation of a prototype of the Sound Organiser. The prototype will be tested in schools in England and China. In late 2011 large-scale funding will be sought to create this multi-platform package.

A collaboration with the Groupe de Recherches Musicales (Paris) and Chinese Electronic Music Center (Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing) as well as the Department of Digital Art and Design (Peking University) is planned with DMU's IOCT acting as project base.
