Student Profile: Gareth Morgans
My educational/professional background is in the media and creative industries. Over the course of my Bachelor’s degree I studied in mainly 3 areas; social science, computer science and philosophy.
I chose this Masters programme as it gave me the opportunity to continue studying in several areas I was interested in, allowing me to develop more practical skills. What I have found most exciting so far is all the technology available to IOCT students. What I have found most challenging is working at a high level in subject areas I have no previous experience within.
I am currently completing a flash project for the Interactive Media module. The project requires me to produce a website for a client who will use the application as part of his design business. With no previous experience in Flash coding, the module has been really challenging but I have also learned many new skills. I have become quite passionate about the project and hope to complete the website and really impress the client.
In the future I would love to work within the creative industries sector. Not only does this course give me the opportunity to develop IT skills, but how to apply these creatively. What I have learned from the course will hopefully provide entrance into product development or creative project management opportunities.
