IOCT Masters

Student Profile: Rupert Waters

I am a graphic designer and work predominantly in video graphics withinterest in abstract animation.  I chose this Masters programme to look at augmented reality 3D environments and their effect on individual
health and additionally to look at how animated colour and sound affect the senses.  What I have found most exciting about the Masters so far is working on ideas for a hospice based interactive therapy system that
provides visual sensory stimuli to child patients.

I am particularly motivated about my Digital Cultures work at the moment, which focuses on Synaesthesia.  I would like to continue my work in Creative Technologies by undertaking research into what causes
photosensitive epilepsy, nausea and vertigo within 3D environments.

Working within groups and working to a group goal has been challenging, but I overcame this challenge by using better interpersonal skills, diplomacy and openness to new ideas.
